In the original movie that spawned the hit TV series, Buffy (Kristy Swanson) is a shallow Valley girl cheerleader, whose main ambitions concern shopping and marrying Christian Slater.  This all changes when the slayer trainer Merrick (Donald Sutherland) informs Buffy that she is ‘the chosen one’, the next generation in a long line of female vampire slayers.

Although both disbelieving and unwilling at first, a moonlit vampiric demonstration at the local cemetery convinces Buffy that Merrick is telling the truth.  As her airhead friends look on in disbelief at her change in priorities, Buffy trains long and hard for her inevitable showdown with head vampire Lothos (Rutger Hauer), and discovers her true calling in life.

Luke Perry also stars as Pike, Buffy’s love interest from the wrong tax bracket, and Ben Affleck, Hilary Swank and David Arquette also make small appearances.
