Synopsis

Nicolas Cage plays a dedicated but corrupt detective Terence McDonagh, who has succumbed to drugs. Playing fast and loose with the law, he either uses his badge or his gun in order to get his way. Following Hurricane Katrina’s devastating destruction of the once beautiful city of New Orleans, McDonagh becomes a both a high-functioning addict and a fearless detective reigning over the ruins of New Orleans with total authority and abandon.

Complicating his tumultuous life is Frankie Donnenfeld (Eva Mendes), the beautiful prostitute he loves. Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience…
