Synopsis

Winner of the International Critics Prize at the Toronto Film Festival, DEATH OF A PRESIDENT is conceived as a fictional TV documentary broadcast in 2008, reflecting on another monstrously despicable and cataclysmic event: the assassination of President George W Bush on October 19th, 2007.

It opens with the President's assassination. When giving a speech at a hotel he is heckled by protesters outside and in a tumultuous moment as the tension explodes, he is killed. There then follows the ensuing FBI investigation hunting down the assassin.

After the assassination of President George W Bush in Chicago, an investigative documentary examines the as-yet-unsolved crime… It combines archival footage and carefully composed interviews, presented in a respectful and dignified manner. Exciting and questioning, it refashions the event into a riveting story. DEATH OF A PRESIDENT is a controversial conspiracy thriller with a unique premise, told in the style of a retrospective documentary, which offers a critique of the contemporary US political landscape.
