But it’s a very different scene in Scotland where a hurricane is battering the coastline, leaving behind devastation in the sleepy town of Wick. Mountainous tides pound mercilessly along the north coast of Britain, heading southwards for London… Rob Morrison (Robert Carlyle), head of Atlantis Engineering, has just returned home after his holiday and is irritated by the news that he must carry out a maintenance check on the Thames Barrier. His ex-wife, Sam, (Jessalyn Gilsig) is the Barriers Director of Operations and the last person he wants to see. Meanwhile his estranged father, engineering genius and professor Leonard Morrison (Tom Courtenay) is urgently trying to warn the Barrier high command about the possible ineffectiveness of the structure. When Rob hears the news that a colleague has drowned in the freak conditions at Wick and that the rising water levels in conjunction with a unique set of weather conditions are rapidly moving south, Rob realises that his father’s worst predictions are coming true. Rob, Sam and Leonard must put aside their personal differences to put in place an effective operation in a limited amount of time or London too will succumb to the destruction the storm has already caused. Shot over eleven weeks in South Africa and over two weeks on location in London during the spring of 2006, FLOOD is directed by Tony Mitchell and stars Robert Carlyle, Jessalyn Gilsig, Tom Courtenay, Joanne Whalley and David Suchet |
