PHASE9 movie review

Synopsis

Friday evening in Paris, 1995: This is it, Laure has packed. Tomorrow, she’s moving in with Francois. But now, this evening, she leaves the empty apartment where she no longer feels at home to go and have dinner at Marie and Bernard’s. She ends up in a huge traffic jam because she had forgotten about the transport strike. But Laure couldn’t care less, she’s tired, and, this evening, here in her car, she really feels at home. It’s warm, she listens to music, she’s safe. Outside, it’s winter. People, eager to get home, fill the streets, milling around in every direction. Traffic is at a standstill, horns sound; everybody is tense and impatient. Everybody except for one man, motionless, a little further on, in the glow of a neon sign. Now he walks forward through the cars - someone must be waiting for him somewhere, thinks Laure.

Based on the French novel ‘Vendredi Soir’ by Emmanuelle Bernheim.
