Synopsis

When their parents die in a road accident, the three grown-up children left behind – sisters Kiyomi and Sumika, brother Shinji – find that festering sibling rivalries resurface, with comic, dramatic and sometime violent consequences.

Most affectingly, aspiring actress Sumika, back from Tokyo and looking for her inheritance, prompts Kiyomi to retreat into her private world of manga (as depicted in some vividly realised stylised sequences).

The whole twisted domestic drama operates on a knife-edge between drama and comedy, love and violence, coming together and falling apart.
