Synopsis

Set around the end of the 19th century in Vienna, LETTER FROM AN UNKNOWN WOMAN stars Louis Jourdan as Stefan Brand, a concert pianist who is on the point of leaving the city to evade a duel when he receives a letter from Ilse (Joan Fontaine)- a woman who is a distant memory for him despite him having had an intimate relationship with her in the past.

Adapted from the novel by Stefan Zweig, this moving film is directed by Max Ophüls.
