Synopsis

A period drama set in Spain at the beginning of the 16th century, Juana la loca (Pilar López de Ayala), is the daughter of Isabel , (Susi Sánchez) Queen of Castille, Spain. She will rule this kingdom one day when her mother and older brothers die and has had her marriage arranged so that she will wed Philippe of Flanders (Daniele Liotti), heir to the Holy Roman Empire, incorporating Germany, Flanders and northern Italy.

Juana is totally besotted with Philippe and falls head over heels in love with him but as she becomes increasingly aware of her husband's constant unfaithfulness, it increasingly destabilizes her and mentally takes its tolls enabling her despicable husband to declare his wife insane to rule and pronounce himself the new king in her place.
