Synopsis

RESCUE DAWN is based on the true story of Deiter Dengler, a German-born US Air Force pilot who is shot down and crash lands in enemy territory during the illegal bombing of Laos and Vietnam in 1966. Captured he ends up in a Viet Cong prison camp during the Vietnam war but somehow manages to organise and escape for a group of POWs.

The film is based on the director Werner Herzog's acclaimed 1997 documentary, Little Dieter Needs to Fly.
