Set in three distinct periods in the life of Frankie Mac (Kevin McKidd), the story is a hard-edged character study of his troubled life and his search to find hope when he feels that none exists. Spanning three decades (1970's to present day), 16 YEARS OF ALCOHOL was filmed entirely on location in Edinburgh. The stellar cast boasts some of the most exciting young actors in the UK today including Kevin McKidd (TRAINSPOTTING, ACID HOUSE, DOG SOLDIERS) who takes the central role of Frankie Mac; Laura Fraser (A KNIGHT'S TALE, VANILLA SKY) and Susan Lynch (FROM HELL, NORA) who respectively play Helen and Mary, the two women that Frankie falls in love with. Multi-talented Richard Jobson was the lead vocalist with Scottish punk legends, The Skids, before becoming a well-respected film critic. He has produced three feature films, JUST ANOTHER DAY IN LONDON, TUBE TALES and HEARTLANDS. 16 YEARS OF ALCOHOL, his directorial debut won the Michael Powell Award at 2003 Edinburgh International Film Festival. |
